I want to thank everyone who braved this crazy heat wave with us at Savannah today. We had talked about shortening the hunt to four hours, but the majority of folks didn't want to, so we went the distance.

We had 24 judges for this hunt, mastered by Jamie Franks and assisted by me. The BBQ and Chicken and fixins were fantastic. It was good to see everyone there, some folks I hadn't seen in a while.

Savannah Fox Preserve Annual 2-Day Spring Derby

We had a good hunt at Savannah this weekend. The first day's running was what I would call "average", scenting conditions weren't the best and the hounds were forced to hunt more than some of them were used to.

The second day threatened rain and boy did we get it. I was surprised that for some reason the running was twice as good, even through the middle of heavy downpours. The judges braved the storm and got some good scoring on mostly red and gray foxes. Special thanks to all our judges for toughing it out in such bad conditions.
